4th July celebration ideas

Happy 4th of July! We hope you’re ready for the festivities over the coming weekend. To give you some inspo, we’ve put together some ideas for how you can celebrate Independence Day. From seeing a firework display to using your own sparklers at home, you could do a few of these or even try all of them!

Wear red, white and blue

Possibly the easiest thing to do, but no less patriotic. Whether you’re going out or staying at home, this is the perfect option. It can be as cost effective as you would like, simply wear some of your own clothes in these colors. If you’re wanting to go all out, many stores sell patriotic T-shirts and other clothing.

Attend a concert

Many towns have local bands, orchestras and choirs putting shows on so why not head down to a local concert. It’s the perfect weekend to spend time with the family at a local gig.

Watch TV

If you’re wanting to stay at home for the festivities, there’s always plenty to watch on tv including the most prominent Independence Day concert from the Capitol’s West Lawn being broadcast.

Visit a historic landmark

Fancy a walk with the family? You can honor the history of the country by going for a walk and visiting a historic landmark or monument. You could go to one nearby or even plan a roadtrip to one further afield and make a day of it!

Volunteer in the community

Whether you help a neighbor or volunteer as part of a community group organization, the 4th of July is a good time to embrace the caring spirit and help those in need.

Have a patriotic picnic

Party in the park anyone? Picnics are a great way to enjoy some good American food and bring everyone together. You could always have one in the garden, or why not get the neighbors involved and have a street party.

See a fireworks show

If you decide to only celebrate Independence Day one way, then it just has to be fireworks! This is THE way to celebrate July 4th year in year out. Most communities put on displays so have a look what displays are on in your local area.
