Everyone’s guilty of it… at least once you’ve gone to bed without taking your make-up off. But what does it really do to your skin, and why is it so important? Well, have a quick read of our blog, and I’m 100% certain, you’ll never forget to fully cleanse before your precious beauty sleep again!
It affects all skin types
No matter what your skin type, it’s proven to worsen your skin and affect all skin negatively. But, you should be particularly cautious if you have skin concerns such as rosacea or hormonal acne, as sleeping in your make up could cause a flare up, plus it’s likely that you could see breakouts as soon as the next day!
Sleeping in foundation is likely to cause breakouts
Sleeping in any kind of make-up is harmful for your skin but foundation for example is more likely to cause break outs and fine lines to appear if not properly removed. The result of not taking foundation off, means that your pores will be large and clogged, your skin will become flaky and you’ll be more prone to blemishes and acne. All for the sake of a cleansing wipe, and a splash of water? C’mon girls, it only takes 5 mins!
Not removing eye make-up will make you prone to eye infections
But it’s not just your face you should be worried about, eye make-up can be equally as damaging, causing inflammations and potential infections, plus you could also be drying out those beautiful fluttery lashes. Leaving mascara on, means that your lashes are more likely to become brittle and shed easier.
Your complexion will appear dull
At Que Bella, you know we’re all about that healthy glow. But no matter how many Que Bella brightening face masks you do, you’ll never see the results if you don’t start cleansing your face before bed. Regular cleansing and exfoliation allow healthy new skin cells to form and replenish and repair your skin, which means your skin looks healthier. If you’re not cleansing then this process is diminished and your skin will look dull and flaky.
It will age you quicker
In the simplest of terms, dirt and make-up trapped in your skin, will cause damage to your skin and age you quicker. It leads to a breakdown of the skins barrier and prematurely ages your face.
It’s entirely up to you how you decide to remove your make up, but remember a face wipe isn’t always enough. We’d always recommend a 3-step system, consisting of cleanse, tone and moisturize. Then if you really want to up your skincare game, include an exfoliator in to your routine, and a mask at least once a week.
