Summer is the season when we get to shed our layers and allow our skin to catch some summer rays. But before you do that, you might want to indulge in a summer glow up so that your skin feels refreshed and revitalised for the season.
Pick up a face mask pack or a face mask bundle and you will reap the rewards of nourished, glowing skin this summer. But what sort of things should you be incorporating into your summer skincare regime?
Exfoliating face mask pack
Think of a good exfoliation as a spring clean for your skin: out with the old and in with the new! A regular exfoliation within your skincare regime gently sloughs away old skin cells and leaves the fresher, glowing skin underneath on view. This should always be done with care, gently buffing dead skin cells away with scrubs, brushes and microdermabrasion kits. Within our face mask pack of 6 we also offer masks that contain ingredients to chemically exfoliate the skin.
Moisturising
Moisturising is important to replenish and rejuvenate skin all year round but in the summer, as the temperature rises, our skin can become dehydrated. Remember oily skin can also be a symptom of dried out skin as the body over produces sebum to prevent it becoming more dehydrated. Daily moisturising along with an occasional deep, intense moisturise (as found in our face mask pack of 6) can help combat this.
Hair removal
If you are planning a trip to the pool or beach you’ll probably want to remove any excess body hair. Do this sensibly by giving the newly exposed skin time to recover before it faces the elements. If this isn’t possible then be sure to protect the follicles with moisturiser and talc after shaving or waxing.
SPF
Needless to say one of the most important ways to protect skin in the hotter months is by using products with a high SPF. This acts as a barrier between the skin and harmful UV rays from the sun. Neglecting this can result in serious burns and premature ageing of the skin. Aside from sun lotion, many makeup products and moisturisers offer a decent SPF. A recommended minimum for hot days is factor 15. And did you know that certain food products can also help fight UV rays from the inside out? Tomatoes contain antioxidant properties that can help protect you.
Minimal make up
Summer is a time where the skin naturally glows so give it the freedom to breathe by wearing minimal make up. Ditching the foundation will also reduce the layer of oil on the skin leading to fewer pimples and blocked pores.
